French performance artist, Orlan who's work has been constantly controversial, decided that for one her pieces to surgically changed her face as part of her "art", so from 1990 to 1995, she underwent a total of nine plastic surgery operations, intending to rewrite the art on her own body.
She wanted to change her mouth to look like that of François Boucher's Europa, her forehead to look like Leonardo's Mona Lisa brow and another to change her chin to that of Botticelli's Venus.
